Greetings! Welcome, and thank you for taking a few moments to look over our Young Adults Ministry page!! We hope the information provided in the social media sites and "helpful links" proves helpful to you.
The world has definitely changed in 2020! It is more than obvious, now, that we have a new "normal" in regards to life, daily routines, and how we approach the world outside our homes due to COVID-19!
As Christians, we are the agents of God's peace and the calm amidst the turmoil. In the "calming of the seas" story in the Bible, we read in Matthew 8:23-27, when the "furious storm" hit and nearly sank their boat, the Disciples cried out, "Lord, save us!" In Mark 4:35-41, it is said the Disciples cried out "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
We may feel that same way, too! We cry out, "Lord, save us from this virus and sickness! God, don't you care if we get this illness? Don't you care about your people...your world?"
God does care; even more than we do. He loves; even more than we do. He has a plan and a purpose to bring good out of this and to empower us to be a powerful witness as His Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:11-21). In the face of all the uncertainty around us, we have a golden opportunity to be a non-anxious presence in the world around us because of the peace Jesus gives.
In the words of our Free Methodist Bishops, who wrote: "The future is uncertain, but God is with us and we have not been abandoned. These are days of unparalleled uncertainty but also amazing opportunity. May God give you and your church the grace and strength to lead and serve as never before."
"For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). We, the Church, have an immense opportunity before us to speak and live in ways that delivers "peace" to the world to help "still the storm" swirling around us.
What better way to live than to be a voice or reason and calm by demonstrating God's love to the world and to live out what it truly means to be a follower of One whose Kingdom is not of this world.
We can look forward with hope and not dreadfulness as to what is coming....possibly the return of Christ our Lord? Let us live fully each day with the hope and peace that we have in Jesus Christ!
Blessings to you!!
